12th International Symposium on Soil and Plant Analysis

Preparations for the 12th International Symposium on Soil and Plant Analysis to be held June 5-10, 2011, at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute Chania, Greece have began. 
Plenary sessions will include:
  • olive agronomy;
  • Mediterranean agriculture;
  • vegetables nutrition and production;
  • soil and plant analysis for making recommendations;
  • soil, plant, water and waste analysis with discussion on interpretive criteria;
  • laboratory instrumentation and accreditation;
  • precision agriculture. 
The international organizing committee has representatives from Albania, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Israel, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, Slovakia, Russia, United States and the European Union — Joint Research Centre.


Preceding the conference there will be a three day, two night tour of the island of Crete with a mid-conference day tour of the Chania area.  SPAC President-elect Rigas Karamanos spent a week in May with the local organizing committee and staff of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania.  
 

Call for Abstracts

You are invited to submit abstracts for presentations reporting on unpublished research related to one of the Symposium’s plenary sessions. Abstracts must be submitted online by February 1, 2011. To submit an abstract you will need to create an account on the Symposium website. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Program Committee for suitability based on scientific content and clarity. Abstracts meeting these criteria will be accepted for presentation at the Symposium. Abstracts are limited to no more than 300 words.
 
Please indicate if you wish to present an oral or poster paper. There is limited space for volunteer oral papers. It is expected that most presentations will be made as posters. Posters will be displayed in a separate area adjacent to the plenary session meeting room. There will be three poster sessions, the first on Tuesday, second on Thursday and third on Friday of the Symposium. Authors of accepted abstracts will be entitled to present their research at the Symposium after payment of registration fees, which for authors are due no later than March 1, 2011.
 
Authors will also be entitled to submit full papers for the Conference Proceedings, which are due by June 5, 2011. A fee of will be required from each author to publish their proceedings paper in a special edition of Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis.
